Hy-Vee stores around the Mid-West continued their Veterans Day tradition Friday morning offering a free breakfast for veterans.

Hundreds came out to the Jefferson City Hy-Vee, and proudly displayed their military pride with different uniforms, badges and hats.

The veterans took the opportunity to catch up and reminisce over their free breakfast of biscuits and gravy, eggs, bacon and donuts.

Randy Edeker, Hy-Vee president, said the event has especially grown in popularity over the last several years. He estimated more than 80,000 free breakfasts would be served Friday morning.

The free breakfast for veterans runs until 11 a.m. Friday.
