CAMDEN COUNTY, MO -- Two Kansas City-area women are in a mid-Missouri jail after leading several officers on a high-speed chase. It all started with a shoplifting call at the Osage Beach Premium Outlet Mall.

Osage Beach police got the call at about 2:05 Tuesday afternoon. When they arrived, they saw Tiara Johnson, 23, and Katara Young, 23, getting into a white 2008 Lexus. As officers tried to get their patrol car behind the Lexus, the driver backed the vehicle and allegedly tried to hit the police cruiser.

Police say the women drove off at a high rate of speed and “without concern for pedestrians or other vehicles” according to a news release.

The chase took officers through Osage Beach Parkway, the Grand Glaize Bridge, Highway 54, Eldon, and Highway 52. Police say speeds reached more than 100 miles per hour. Several local agencies participated in the pursuit.

The chase came to an end in Barnett near Highway 52 and Route AA.

Officers found stolen property, mostly clothes, abandoned in a farmer’s barn in the Barnett area.

Johnson and Young are in the Camden County jail. They each face one charge of felony stealing.
