The signs are pointing to a possible shift in conference allignment as early as Monday for the Missouri Tigers.
There have been telling signs that Missouri may be ready to leave the Big 12 as early as Monday.
A
news story was posted mistakenly
on the SEC website on Thursday citing SEC commissioner Mike Slive announcing Monday that the Tigers would be joining the ranks of the Southeastern conference. The story was taken down after a viewer found it using an extended search function. The SEC said the story should not have gone up and the outside company that provides content for the SEC site told ESPN it was a draft story in anticipation of something happening.
Then on Friday,
West Virginia was officially accepted
to the Big 12. The news release said that starting with the 2012-2013 season, the Big 12 expected to be comprised of 10 university. Missouri was not on that list.
Missouri has been rumored to be
mulling a move to the SEC
with the university taking several steps to allow a conference shift to happen. Both Mizzou and the SEC have said no final decision has been made.
(The Associated Press contributed to this report.)
