President Barack Obama announced Friday afternoon that U.S. Troops will be out of Iraq by the end of the year.
The partnership between the U.S. and Iraq will become a normal one between two sovereign nations.
Obama said 150 troops will remain to oversee arms sales, but that all combat troops will be coming home for the holidays.
The announcement gave a definitive end to the war in Iraq after eight years.
Obama spoke to media and on national television after a private video conference with Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki.
