LINN, MO -- A lockdown is over at two school buildings in Linn.
The situation started Monday morning and forced the students in the high school and middle school to remain in their classrooms. The lockdown lasted about an hour.
Superintendent Mary Elsensohn released this statement to certified and non-certified staff members about the incident:
“We had a situation at the high school campus, which required a lockdown with those students remaining in their classrooms for a time this [Monday] morning. All classroom buildings were lockdown, including the elementary school. Mr. Harris informed loaw enforcement who responded and found and took a student into custody off of school property. That situation has been resolved and all staff and students are safe and have returned to their regular schedule. St. George and Autumn Meadows were all apprised of the district’s lockdown and of the listing of the lockdown.”
High School Principal Ken Harris emphasized when police found the student in question, she was off of school property at the time.
Harris said the student did not make any threats to a specific student or staff member. Superintendent Elsensohn confirmed the girl made some sort of threat toward the school, which forced all students to remain in their classrooms.
“Everybody was safe and the situation was resolved of campus,” Elsensohn said. “Hopefully we can concentrate on school now.”
The school district has turned the case over to the Linn Police Department.
