BIG LAKE, Mo. (AP) -- The Missouri State Highway Patrol has resumed its search for a Water Patrol officer who has been missing since August 1, when he was patrolling near Big Lake in northwest Missouri.

Fred Guthrie and his K-9 partner, Reed, disappeared while serving flood duty. The dog's body was recovered the next day, but there has been no sign of Guthrie.

Floodwaters at the lake village have dropped, allowing the search to resume Wednesday.

KSHB-TV reports the Missouri Department of Transportation was building a boat ramp so searchers could get sonar equipment into the water where Guthrie was last seen.
