FULTON, MO. -- In Fulton, Sunday, there was a special service to remember the attacks on September 11th ten years ago at the church of St. Mary the Virgin Aldermanbury.
Local firefighters and first responders filled the pews alongside Westminster students and staff.
Westminster's President Dr. Barney Forsythe said there's a global community on campus, and for them it's important to remember that September 11th was not only an attack on America but an attack on the world.
Through the service and their education, Forsythe said he hopes students will find a way to build respect, tolerance and understanding.
"To the extent that we can build a community of college students where we can live and learn together, we increase the likelihood that we will build bonds of friendship and peace that will continue as these young people go out to be leaders in their own societies," Forsythe said.
During the service Forsythe presented a wreath to the firefighters in honor of their service and to thank them for keeping the community safe.
