Updated at 3:39pm, Thursday, September 9th, 2011:

The Sunrise Beach Fire Department says the fire that destroyed an old fishing cabin at 31 Waterfront Road was accidental.  The fire started on the kitchen, and quickly spread through the cabin.

No one was hurt in the fire.  The man who lived there was outside at the time of the fire.

Gravois Fire District and the Mid County Fire Districts helped out with tankers and a fire boat.

Original Story:

Sunrise Beach Firefighters are battling a structure fire on Waterfront Road. The call came in around 9:30 a.m. on Thursday from neighbors who saw flames shooting through the roof.

Dispatchers have told firefighters headed to the scene that the fire has fully engulfed the single story home.

They told officials the flames were coming from the kitchen area of the home.

Officials called in a fireboat.

The fire is a developing situation. KRCG will update information as more is available.
