A Columbia man pleaded guilty to child pornography charges.
27-year-old Thach Hoang Nguyen entered a guilty plea in Boone County Circuit Court for the possession of more than 20 photographs of child pornography and the possession of one video of child pornography.
The Boone County Sheriff’s Department Cyber Crimes Task Force says the investigation started in February 2011 when they got information that a Columbia resident was offering to spread child porn through a file sharing program.
An investigator downloaded video files from the suspected computer and found images and video of the molestation of pre-pubescent children.
After further investigation, on February 16 investigators served a search warrant at his residence and seized a computer and other evidence. Police said they located at least thirty videos and possibly hundreds of photographs of child pornography.
On March 1, Nguyen was charged with one count of the Possession of Child Pornography and one count of Promoting Child Pornography. His guilty plea came Monday in court.
Nguyen has a sentencing hearing scheduled for October 24, 2011.
