84-year-old drowns in private pond

(AP) -- An 84-year-old man Missouri man has drowned after falling out of a boat.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that Willie R. Potter of Paris, Mo., drowned Thursday after he fell out of the 14-foot johnboat into a pond on private property.

The patrol said another man in the boat retrieved Potter from the water, but Potter was later pronounced dead.
