The brand new Cole County Jail opened to the public Friday morning with a ribbon cutting ceremony and formal tours. Friday night, it will turn into one of the most unique bed and breakfasts, at least for 2 nights.
Dozens of people already have signed up to spend a night in the jail for the “Bed, Breakfast, and Bars” event. For $30 you get 2 meals, a mugshot, a t-shirt, a night in the slammer, and a story you can share years from now.
KRCG reporter Meghan Lane and executive producer Dori Olmos will be 2 of those people spending a night in jail. They’ll be tweeting about their experiences on Twitter. To keep up, follow @KRCG, @MeghanKRCG, and @ProducerDori on Twitter.
Then stay tuned to KRCG News on Saturday for a full report on the overnight stay.
