The National Weather Service scaled back their predictions for flooding overnight.

The Weather Service had expected the flooding to start on Saturday. That was then pushed back to Sunday and now, flooding is not in the next five days at all. In fact, by Wednesday, the National Weather Service expects the Missouri River at Jefferson City to fall to 18.9 feet by next Wednesday.

It could be due to levees failing upstream. The river is currently at 22 feet. Upriver in St. Joseph, the river is expected to take a similar drop, but it is followed by a steady rise back to flood stage.
