Delbert Click is accused of third degree assault after a bar fight in Pulaski County
Update: June 22 at 12:40 p.m.:
The Pulaski County Prosecuting Attorney's Office has released the
charging documents and probable cause statement
in the case against Delbert Click.
Click's wife emailed KRCG on Wednesday with a story very different than those in the probable cause statement and initial news release from the Pulaski County Sheriff's Department.
She said Click did not hit anyone at the bar, but was attacked himself and that a video recording at the bar shows as much.
She also said that Click did not receive any medical treatment until he collapsed at the police station. It was then that he was taken to a hospital. Click's wife said he was hit in the back of the head by the bartender working that night, and had severe injuries from the hit. She said he was sedated at the hospital even with a head injury.
When Click was released from the hospital, his wife said he was told he was not being charged because people at the bar did not want to press charges. The next morning, he woke up and heard on the radio that he had been charged with something and went to the police station to find out what was going on. While there, he filed a report against the bartender hitting him on the head.
Click's wife was also concerned with the mug shot released by the Pulaski County Sheriff's Department. She said in his official mug shot, he was wearing an orange jumpsuit. She said that photo must have been taken while he was coming off sedation while intoxicated and recovering from a head injury.
She said Click has not denied he was intoxicated at the time of the incident.
Original Story:
A bar fight in Pulaski County landed one man behind bars Saturday night.
According to the Pulaski County Sheriff's Department, deputies were called to a tavern on Highway 17 after bar employees reported a fight.
The deputy on scene asked Delbert Franklin Click, 40, of Richland to go outside and talk about what happened. Click refused and the bartender said Click entered the bar and started yelling at patrons and hit one.
The bartender told authorities a small bar fight broke out, and ended after the bartender hit Click with a baseball bat.
Click was taken to a medical facility for treatment, then was taken into custody for a 24-hour hold.
Pulaski County filed two counts of assault in the third degree against Click.
