COLUMBIA, MO. -- Two of the oldest buildings on the Mizzou Campus got a face lift.
University of Missouri officials hosted an open house and media tour of the newly renovated Switzler and Tate halls on Friday afternoon.
Approximately 280 classroom seats and 34 faculty offices have been added to the 2 buildings which will be ready for classes this fall.
Faculty members are expected to move into the buildings within the next 2 weeks.
Designers saved money by reusing many items from the old buildings during the renovation process.
MU Vice Chancellor of Facilities Gary Ward said, “When you go through the building, we think it looks very, very nice. There is nothing in here with our systems or materials that are over the top. It’s sheetrock, paint, vinyl base and carpet. We have a little bit of terrazzo in the main entries because it wears like granite.”
The cost of the Tate Hall renovation project is $8 million.
The Switzler Hall renovation project cost $7 million.
