FULTON, MO -- The Holts Summit woman charged with killing her husband on New Year’s Day says she’s not guilty.

Sandra Plunkett did not appear in court Monday morning. Her public defender, Justin Carver, entered the plea for her. Carver also filed a change of venue request.

Plunkett is charged with 1st degree murder in the shooting death of her husband Paul. Holts Summit police said Plunkett confessed to shooting him in the back of his head with a rifle. Paul Plunkett was lying in a hospital bed in the couple’s bedroom at the time.

On Monday, June 20, a Callaway County official will take all of Plunkett’s court documents to Judge Gary Oxenhandler. He’s the Presiding Judge of the 13th Judicial Circuit. Callaway County shares the district with Boone County.

From there, Oxenhandler will help decide when Plunkett’s trial date will begin. It could be another two weeks before that information is released.

Plunkett is being held without bond in the Callaway County Jail.
