The death toll in Joplin has risen to 151 people.

Part of the reason for the rise is a rare fungal infection called zygomycosis.

That's Saturday’s Facebook story of the day.

The updated death toll includes at least three people who died from the infection.

The fungus is found in soil and decaying vegetation, when it settles into a wound it spreads fast.

"You have to try to not get injured , but if you do hand washing is the most important thing to do. If the wound does not heal get medical attention ASAP" St. John’s Medical Center’s Dr. Eden Esguerra said.

Health officials say it's not contagious.
