NASA has called off Friday's launch of space shuttle Endeavour because of a technical problem. KRCG Meteorologist Zach Paul said the astronauts were headed to the shuttle and turned around and headed away from the aircraft. The launch has been scrubbed for 48 hours.

Original Story:

The Space Shuttle Endeavour will launch for its last ride into orbit.

The launch team began loading fuel into Endeavour early Friday morning. It will take more than a half-million gallons of fuel for the ride.

Commanding Endeavour on NASA's next-to-last shuttle flight is Navy Capt. Mark Kelly. He's married to Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, who will watch the launch from Kennedy Space Center. She was shot in the head in January and left rehab behind for the liftoff. President Barack Obama also will attend with his family.

Launch time is 3:47 p.m.

Endeavour is bound for the International Space Station.

KRCG Meteorologist Zach Paul is at the launch, one of 150 NASA tweet followers selected to be part of the official launch "tweet-up."

Paul said the astronauts were expected to pass his group by 11 a.m. CST on the road to the shuttle.
