Update: Wednesday April 27th at 8:45 a.m.:

The funeral for Austin Hoener is Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at St. James Middle School. The entire district's student body will be released early at 11:30.

Original Story:

A 13-year-old is dead after a car crash Saturday night in Phelps County. The Missouri Highway Patrol said the teen was the driver of a Mercury SUV.

The patrol said Austin Hoener died when the car he was driving skid off County Road 1090, hit the ditch and overturned. Austin was ejected from the car. The Patrol said the teen was not wearing his seatbelt.

The accident happened around 10:00 Saturday night near the intersection of County Road 1090 and 1140, about 3 miles north of St. James.
