Gov. Jay Nixon is touting a new report with recommendations for how Missouri can boost its economy in the future.

Nixon and state Economic Development Director David Kerr released a final report Monday. Nixon says it provides a blueprint for expanding Missouri's economy. The report comes from a commission that included business leaders around the state.

In December, the commission announced several objectives for creating jobs, as well as seven targeted industries with potential for growth. Those industries are advanced manufacturing, energy, bioscience, health sciences, information technology, financial and professional services, and transportation.

The final report suggests numerous tactics to meet the objectives. Those more specific recommendations include proposals such as overhauling some existing tax credit programs and forgiving the college tuition of some high school graduates.

Tonight on the KRCG News at ten we'll talk to the Missouri Department of Economic Development to find out specifically how they are going to create jobs.

What do you think? Will the Governor's plan have an impact on the economy? Can state government actually run like a business?
