JEFFERSON CITY, MO -- Friends and family welcomed home the 4175th Military Police Detachment Criminal Investigation Division Thursday at the Ike Skelton Training Site in Jefferson City.

"It's been a long challenging deployment and I’m looking forward to getting back to the the normal things in life,” MO Army National Guard Soldier Leif Strand said.

The unit is returning from a nearly year long deployment where soldiers conducted criminal investigations for the army in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The commander of the division said their deployment wasn't an easy task, but he feels it was a great learning experience.

"I learned a great deal that I could bring back here in the fields of leadership and the criminal justice field. There is a lot of things I think I can do better now since I went there and came back,” 4175th Criminal Investigation Division Commander Tim Forney said.

Sullivan said he is very glad everyone in his unit is back safe in sound in the United States.
