The Missouri State Emergency Management Agency is holding a statewide tornado drill on Thursday at 1:30 p.m.
It was originally planned for Tuesday but officials moved it because there is a slight risk for actual severe weather on Tuesday.
The emergency management office says it doesn't want anyone to be confused over whether the sounding sirens are a test or an acutual emergency.
The weather forecast calls for sunshine on Thursday.
The National Weather Service and cities' dispatch centers will activate outdoor tornado sirens for about 15 minutes.
NOAA All-Hazards Weather Radio and the Emergency Alert System (EAS) will also be activated upon receipt of this warning.
The drill is to encourage Missourians to practice seeking shelter, or to plan what they would do if a tornado was in the area.
The weather service says 65 tornadoes hit Missouri last year.
This is the 37th annual statewide tornado drill for Missouri. The drill is part of Severe Weather Awareness week, which runs from today through Friday.
