A group of seniors at the University of Missouri are proposing a new business idea to four apparel companies on Wednesday.
The students are in the Department of Textile and Apparel Management in the College of Human Environmental Sciences.
Their program would market textiles from the state's cotton as a brand they propose to call Heartland Premium.
The students' research shows consumers prefer products made out of U.S.-grown cotton because of its quality and because consumers desire to support domestic businesses.
Missouri accounts for about 6 percent of the nation's cotton production.
