PLATTE COUNTY, MO. -- A mountain lion was spotted in northwest Missouri.

The big cat was caught on camera in a tree in Platte County.

The Kansas City Star reports that the Missouri Department of Conservation said this is only the 11 incident that officials have verified a mountain lion spotting since 1994.

Officials verified that it was a mountain lion by the claw marks in the tree and hair samples found.
