KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- The U.S. attorney's office in Kansas City has appointed one of its prosecutors to monitor Tuesday's elections and respond to claims of fraud, which is routine for every election.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Linda Parker Marshall will be responsible for overseeing the handling of complaints of fraud and voting rights abuses in the western district of Missouri.
The FBI also will have special agents available in each field office and resident agency throughout the country. The involvement of federal agents is part of the U.S. Justice Department's nationwide Ballot Access and Voting Integrity initiative.
U.S. Attorney Beth Phillips said members of the public should report any fraud or voting rights abuses they witness.
The U.S. Attorney’s office said it can’t comment on calls and reports received. Only after someone is charged will be the office release information on the case.
