ST. LOUIS, MO. (AP) -- Funeral services are scheduled for this week for a Missouri State Highway Patrol sergeant killed in a helicopter crash outside St. Louis.
Sgt. Joe Schuengel, of south St. Louis County, died Friday when the helicopter he was piloting crashed on a side street in a Clarkson Valley subdivision. He was alone in the helicopter when it crashed.
The patrol says visitation for Schuengel, who was 47, will be Tuesday at Hoffmeister Colonial Mortuary in St. Louis from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m.
A funeral mass will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Basilica in St. Louis, followed by interment at Resurrection Cemetery, also in St. Louis.
The family asks that memorials be sent to the Missouri Association of State Troopers Emergency Relief Society in Poplar Bluff.
