FORT LEONARD WOOD, MO. -- Update: Thursday, Sept. 9 at 5:05 p.m.
The U.S. Attorney said the night before the Sept. 4 stabbing, Chilquitta Favors attacked her husband, Charles Favors, inside their home, biting him and stabbing him in the chest before breaking a plate and coffee cup over his head.
Military police ordered her to stay away from her husband for the next three days. Instead, she cut a hole in a jacket to hide a foot-long knife.
While her husband held their 10-month-old daughter, investigators said Favors stabbed her husband in the back, arm and the back of the head.
The U.S. Attorney also said four neighbors on base saw the attack. He said Favors only stopped after two witnesses subdued her.
Favors' public defender asked the court to release her to her grandmother's custody in Georgia. The judge is considering that motion.

The Ft. Leonard Wood mother accused of stabbing her husband and infant daughter has been appointed a public defender.
Chilquitta Wane Favors, 25, appeared in a federal courtroom in Springfield, Mo. on Tuesday. The judge scheduled a detention hearing for Thursday at 2:30 p.m.
Favors is charged with attempted murder in connection with the Saturday, Sept. 4 incident in front of the couple's home on the army post. Prosecutors allege that Favors used a foot long chef's knife to attack her husband, Pvt. Charles Favors, and their infant daughter.
The day before the knife attack, Chilquitta Favors had allegedly assaulted her husband was ordered not to have any contact with him, according a spokesperson with the U.S. District Attorney’s Office.
In court documents, investigators said Chilquitta told them she planned on stabbing her husband until he couldn’t stop her from taking the children.
Pvt. Favors was taken to the post's hospital to be treated for a six-inch laceration on the back of his head as well as cuts to his back and arms. Pvt. Favors was released from the hospital on Sunday, Sept. 5.
Pvt. Favors was holding the couple's 10 month-old daughter at the time of the attack. Prosecutors said Chilquitta Favors also stabbed the infant in the lower right leg. The knife cut through muscle, tendon and nerves in the infant's leg, according to a press release from the US Attorney's Office Western District of Missouri.
The infant was first taken to St. Johns Hospital in Springfield and later transported to a hospital in Columbia for further treatment, according to Don Ledford with the US Attorney's Office.

A Fort Leonard Wood woman faces a charge for attempting to kill her husband. The woman's daughter also suffered injuries in the alleged incident.
Chilquitta W. Favors, 25, received the charge in federal court Tuesday. The charge alleges that on Saturday, Sept. 4, Favors assaulted her husband with the intent to stab him to death.
According to court documents, Favors stabbed her husband, who is in the army, in the back of his head. This caused a six-inch cut. He also had gashes on his back and arm.
Court documents also indicate that Favors stabbed her 10-month-old daughter in the lower right leg. The knife cut her tendons, nerves, and muscle.
According to the Western District Attorney’s office, Favors used a foot-long chef’s knife.
In the affidavit, Favors told investigators she concealed the knife in her jacket and went to meet her husband. He was holding her daughter when she approached him.
According to court documents, her husband refused to take her back or let her have her children. That’s when she allegedly took out the knife and repeatedly stabbed him.
The incident happened at the base in Fort Leonard Wood.
