JEFFERSON CITY, MO -- Police officers and firefighters were still hard at work on the job Monday responding to calls, and patrolling roads as holiday travelers headed home. In Jefferson City, Officers said the extended weekend was fairly quiet with nothing out of the ordinary.

Jefferson City Police Officer Collier Nichols said, "Labor Day is really just another day for us here at the police department, and I would assume for Fire and EMS personnel as well. We're just trying to enforce traffic violations as traffic picks up coming from the lake."

He urged drivers to be especially careful when traveling on North bound Highway 54 in Jefferson City because traffic is backing up due to construction.
