Couple arrested for fake hostage, stealing drugs

ROLLA, MO. -- Police arrested a Rolla married couple for robbing the Hillcrest Pharmacy Friday morning.

Jonathan A. Baker, 24, and Jacqueline R. Baker, 23, both of Rolla, were arrested after four witnesses of chased and subdued the suspects.

Jonathan walked into the pharmacy and said that he was holding Jacqueline hostage at gunpoint. He then demanded that the pharmacy give him prescription drugs. After getting the drugs, he and his “hostage,” Jacqueline, fled the store.

Two customers saw that Jonathan did not have a gun and chased after the suspects on foot. Two employees joined the chase, and the four witnessed were able to apprehend the suspects.

Jonathan Baker was charged with first degree robbery, armed criminal action and theft of a controlled substance.

Jacqueline Baker was charged with first degree robbery, armed criminal action, theft of a controlled substance, tampering with evidence and assault in the first degree.

Both are being held at the Phelps County Jail.
