ST. LOUIS, MO. -- Ameren UE filed a request with the Missouri Public Service Commission Friday for an $11.9 million increase in gas rates for its 127,000 Missouri gas customers.

For residential customers, there would be a net increase of $7.25 per month.

The increased rate will cover construction, operation and maintenance costs for new Ameren UE investments and increased operation costs.

Ameren’s rate request will not have any immediate effect, since it must first go through the process of PSC review and hearings. A decision is expected no later than May 2011.

Ameren UE’s last rate increase was in 2007.
