JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Missouri businesses would have to allow properly licensed people to carry concealed guns in their parking lots under a bill approved by the House.

Businesses can currently choose to ban concealed weapons on their property.

House members approved the bill Thursday by a 113-40 vote. The legislation now goes to the Senate.

Under the bill, businesses would not be responsible for injuries or attacks on their property, unless a similar incident had happened in the previous two years.

Kansas City Democrat Rep. John Burnett said the bill will make businesses less safe for consumers. He says the state already has tough concealed weapons laws.
