COLUMBIA, MO. -- A cell phone company gave away free massages, refreshments and t-shirts on the University of Missouri campus to promote a new way to charge your phone.
MU is one of nine colleges part of Samsung's Mobile Charging Stations installation. Samsung is installing 37 stations in total, five of which are located in Mizzou Arena.
Hundreds of students also entered a Facebook contest to show Samsung Mobile how they choose to “recharge” themselves during the semester.
The grand prize winner gets a getaway for two. Ten other winners will win a brand new Samsung mobile phone.
“I saw the massages," MU Student Marcus Ferguson said. "They really caught my attention, at first. After that, I heard what they had to say about the contest and everything and what they were going to do with rechargeable phone stations. I think that is really cool. It will be very nice and convenient on campus, especially near the arena since I am over there a lot.”
Samsung mobile representatives also collected old cell phones to recycle in support of their “March to a Million” program.
The goal of that program is to recycle one million cell phones this year.
