JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Missouri voters would have an easier time casting advance ballots under a measure that received broad support in the House.

With a 153-5 vote Wednesday, the House approved creation of weeklong advance voting periods for any general or primary election. Polls would be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and counties would be reimbursed by the state for their costs.

The early voting provision was given initial approval by the House. But debate continued on a second part of the legislation, which would require voters to show photo identification before casting ballots.

The Missouri Supreme Court ruled a similar requirement unconstitutional in 2006.
