Nixon appoints new State Board of Education member

Gov. Jay Nixon has appointed the husband of a Columbia state representative Mary Still to the State Board of Education.

Russell Still is an attorney who served on the Columbia Board of Education from 1996 to 2005, including one year as president.

He also taught in Detroit for four years.

His appointment must be confirmed by the senate.

He would serve until March 2017.
