COLUMBIA, MO. -- Members of the Central Missouri Humane Society said they need your help.
Animal control officers found the dog Remington with a broken left leg and a bullet lodged near his leg bone. The x-ray clearly shows the gunshot wound in a Remington.
This past week shelter veterinarians tried to manage his fracture with a splint and cast.
That didn’t work.
Now, Remington needs surgery at a cost of about $2,000.
Surgeons at the MU Vet School will perform the surgery on Friday using an “I.O.U.” as payment, so the Central Missouri Humane Society is asking for donations.
“I think that this dog is a very sweet boy," Shelter Veterinarian Dr. Margaret Lee said. "He has a great chance for a long and healthy, happy, comfortable and pain free life if we can get this done. He’s in great shape, otherwise, so we really want to help this guy out.”
Dr. Lee said you can make out your checks to the Central Missouri Humane Society with “for Remington” in the memo area.
