COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) -- The success of limited jet service at Columbia Regional Airport has prompted Delta Air Lines to quickly expand that service.

Starting on April 6, Delta will offer regional jet service on each of its three daily flights to and from Columbia. Those flights will continue to connect through Memphis.

The airline company added jet service on one of those three flights in February but is bringing larger planes to Columbia in response to customer demand.

Columbia last had jet service a decade ago, when now-defunct Ozark Airlines offered flights to Chicago and Dallas. A succession of smaller, regional carriers have since operated from the central Missouri city.
