Firefighters from multiple Lake-area fire stations responded to a house explosion on Saint Croix Drive in Sunrise Beach Tuesday.
Our cameras were only allowed on the hill above the house while crews worked to put out the small pockets of fire under the collapsed home.
The call came in around 11:15 a.m. Tuesday from someone across the lake at Tan-Tar-A Resort.
It took crews about 10 minutes to actually locate the house.
"Information was sketchy as to where it was, so that's where the delay came in getting here," said Sunrise Beach Fire Protection District Fire Chief John Suellentrop.
"When we got here we found the house was in a pile of rubble," said Suellentrop. "A lot of it, the front side, is in the lake and there's a good debris field behind us over here."
Authorities said a man lived at the home year round but he was not home when the blast occured.
A nearby garage was even shifted off its foundation by the blast.
Investigators with the State Fire Marshal's office are on the scene.
They suspect a propane leak was the cause.
The home is a total loss.
