JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) -- The Missouri attorney general wants to allow child pornography victims to win at least $150,000 in damages from people convicted of producing or possessing their sexual images.
Attorney General Chris Koster's office is supporting legislation filed last week that would create new lawsuit rights for pornography victims under age 14.
Sponsoring Sen. Matt Bartle, of Lee's Summit, says the bill would give private law firms an incentive to help crack down on the child porn industry.
Koster's office says the Missouri legislation is modeled after a law enacted two years ago in Florida. Federal law also allows child pornography victims to sue perpetrators for at least $150,000.
