JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Gov. Jay Nixon is expected to lay out his budget cuts and economic development plans during an address to Missouri lawmakers.

The governor's annual State of the State Address is scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder is to give the Republican response.

Missouri is facing a projected budget shortfall of $200 million within the next few months and expects revenues to remain tight in the fiscal year that starts July 1.

Nixon already has said he will support new incentives for businesses to locate or expand in Missouri.

He also has said he will support new ethics laws for Missouri politicians, tougher drunken driving laws and enhanced powers for the Department of Natural Resources to regulate water quality.
