JEFFERSON CITY, MO. -- The third public hearing held by the Missouri Public Service Commission on Ameren UE’s rate increase request begins at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
The rate increase would mean about an 18 percent jump on the average residential customer's bill, that's about $14 a month.
Ameren officials said this money will off-set the cost of their efforts to improve reliability, like tree-trimming and undergrounding power lines.
Ameren officials said people can come to tonight's hearing to take advantage of Ameren staff on-hand.
"We will have people, Ameren people, on site,” Ameren UE Steve Kidwell said. “If you have concerns about your bill, if you have concerns about the reliability of your power, we're going to have engineers and customer service people here with computers. They can look up your own information if you'd like for them to and we'd encourage people to do that."
The meeting will be held at the Governor Office Building at the corner of Capitol and Madison Streets in downtown Jefferson City.
Anyone who wants to testify before the PSC commissioners will be allowed to do so.
