A fire destroyed Nelson's Garage Monday morning.

Flames and heavy smoke could be seen coming through the roof when the first Fulton firetruck arrived at 835 Hickman Ave. at about 6:20 a.m.

Five trucks and two aerial units were used to combat the fire. The damages, valued at $200,000, were so extensive that investigators could not determine the cause of the fire.

The Central Callaway Fire Protection District and City of Columbia provided the aerial support. There were no injuries, although Callaway County Ambulance was at the scene on standby. Fulton Police helped with traffic control.
