ASHLAND, Mo. --
Ashland has a new library.
A "book brigade" of people passed bags of books into the new library just like a fire brigade.
The brigade event is a tradition because staff and volunteers did the same thing when their old library opened 12 years ago.
"So we were asked if we would do it again, and the community just really supports their library,” said Melissa Carr with the Daniel Boone Regional Library. “This is a community that values the library as a community service, and they showed their support by coming out today and helping being part of an opening of a new building. I couldn't be happier with that."
The new Ashland library officially opens on Monday at 9 a.m.
