JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill has been highlighting all the things that Republican congressman Todd Akin is against. Akin has been emphasizing the things that McCaskill is for.

The final for-or-against choice was being made Tuesday by voters in Missouri's nationally watched U.S. Senate race.

McCaskill is hoping voters will be swayed by Akin's "legitimate rape" comment and his opposition to such things as federal student loans and the minimum wage. Akin is hoping voters will care more about McCaskill's votes for President Barack Obama's health care law and stimulus act.

Besides the Senate race, Missouri voters also are choosing a governor, four other statewide executive officials, federal and state lawmakers, various judges and local county officials.

Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.
