It’s graduation weekend on the Mizzou campus.

School officials are awarding degrees to nearly 5,800 students.

University of Missouri School of Veterinary Medicine graduates shared their special day with family and friends at Mizzou’s Jesse Hall on Friday afternoon.

Author Ron Powers and U.S. Representative from Missouri Sam Graves are 2 of this year’s commencement speakers.

Graduates said this is a bittersweet time in their lives.

Mizzou graduate Ruth Reiha said, “It’s exciting.  I’ll miss all of my friends that i made in vet school, especially since we are splitting to all ends of the country now.”

Mizzou graduate Addae Olson said, “I’ve made a lot of best friends over the past four years.  It’s hard to leave some of your family that you have been going to school with.  It’s exciting to start something new.”

Police want to remind everyone to allow extra time when driving in Columbia this weekend because of the thousands of extra people in town for graduation ceremonies.

Officers suggest avoiding the MU Campus unless you are attending the pomp and circumstance.
