The 15-minute session covered a number of issues, including some proposed cuts to widely-used city services.

The special meeting had three topics: budget issues, resignations and morale. Jefferson City Mayor Eric Struemph said he would like public works director Roger Schwartze and the city's first communications manager Michelle Gleba to reconsider their resignations, which they announced Tuesday.

"All of the services that we provide will probably be provided in a slower manner than they were provided before," city manager Nathan Nickolaus said. "We are cutting back on materials and some other things. It will make it a little more difficult to do things. Our hope is to provide as high a level of service and as good a quality of service as we possibly can."

Jefferson City council members are expected to approve their budget cuts during their meeting Monday night.
