A boil water advisory in effect since Tuesday for Jefferson City resients has been lifted.  At 9pm Wednesday Missouri American Water released a statement saying testing from 8 sites came back meeting EPA standards. Customers can feel safe using their water for cooking and drinking.

The boil advisory came after a 6 inch water main broke Tuesday leaving thousands of customers without water for hours. The pipe was repaired but as the system was flushed customers were advised to boil any water used for cooking or drinking. Missouri American says it will notify customers Thursday morning with automated phone calls.
