Update, 10:04pm:

The Missouri Highway Patrol says the accident happened when the car driven by 27-year-old Mindy Melton crossed lanes of Highway 54 and hit the side of the car driven by 76-year-old Jerry Moody.  Moody was pronounced dead at the scene.  His wife, Judith, was taken to Capitol Region with serious injuries.  Melton was flown by helicopter to University Hopistal with serious injuries.

Update, 5 p.m.:

Authorities have confirmed one fatality. Two others are critically injured.

Update, 4 p.m.:

Lanes are open.

Update, 3:40 p.m.:

Staff for Life has landed. Both lanes of Highway 54 closed as of 3:15 p.m.

There's a serious wreck at Highway 54 and Buffalo Road that requires extrication.

Three people were trapped in vehicle. As of 3:10 p.m., a helicopter was en route to the scene.
