Blunt-force trauma was the cause of death for the elderly couple
Ronald Blowers has been charged with two counts of second-degree murder for killing Wayne and Mable Wells.
The Morgan County Sheriff Department says that evidence from the scene and information obtained from Blowers led to the charges being filed.
An autopsy revealed that blunt-force trauma was the cause of death for the couple, not bullet wounds. It is believed that a pipe, knife and screwdriver were used in the attack.
Police found a pipe, which they believe to be one of the weapons, near the scene Thursday.
Blowers admitted to being present at the Wells home during the "commission of the homicide" and also admitted to using a pipe, knife and screwdriver to inflict injuries on the victims.
Blowers is being held in the Morgan County Adult Detention Center on $1 million bond.
