(AP) -- ST. LOUIS (AP) -- PrideFest in St. Louis is moving downtown.

The annual gay pride festival will take place June 29-30 at Soldiers Memorial. PrideFest had been at Tower Grove Park in previous years.

Organizers say the festival is growing and the move will create new opportunities for more visitors, longer hours and more entertainment.

The change also comes at a time when strides are being made in the movement for equality in the LGBT community. St. Louis County and some area municipalities have recently adopted nondiscrimination measures, and three states this year voted to support gay marriage.
