His girlfriend's aunt was found shot in December 2010

The man charged with the murder of 67-year-old Aletha Turner pleaded guilty on Friday and was sentenced to 27 years in jail.

Turner was shot in the head in her home on Dewey Lane. She was unconscious, but still alive, when relatives found her on December 20, 2010. She died two days later.

Two days after that, deputies arrested then 21-year-old Ryan Bridger, who was also wanted for burglarizing the home of Turner’s brother. Bridger was also the boyfriend of Turner's niece.

Prosecutors said Bridger used a small caliber handgun to shoot Turner, while court documents showed Bridger admitted to stealing Turner’s checkbook and pawning some of her jewelry.

In July, prosecutors also charged Bridger with seven additional charges including forgery, burglary and theft.
