JEFFERSON CITY -- The Kyle Billington Memorial 5K Run is an annual tradition in Jefferson City, and it's celebrating its 6th year Saturday.

Billington didn't play any sports at Jefferson City High School, but he developed a passion for running after graduation.

Billington's life was tragically cut short six years ago when he was killed in a car accident at the age of 27.

Now in its sixth year, the memorial run has raised more than $26,000 to provide scholarships and support for the Jays track and field program.

More importantly, it allows family and friends to come together every year to remember the life of Kyle Billington.

The run starts at 8 a.m. on Edgewood Drive.

Shirts guaranteed to first 250 entrants.
